Curriculum Planning

In my role as the Fine Arts Specialist with the Arkansas Department of Education, I sought feedback from teachers regarding what supports would best help in the field. A frequent request was to provide sample arts curriculum maps for the many new educators in the state. This sample Visual Art I map includes:

  • National Core Arts Standards alignment

  • 9 unit topics

  • Student objectives and activities

  • Sample assessments

  • Enrichment and extension resources

Canvas Course

As part of my work as the Fine Arts Specialist at the Arkansas Department of Education, I designed and developed an asynchronous course on Canvas that credentials teaching artists in the Arkansas Fine Arts Academic Standards. This course includes:

  • Interactive media and personalized documents

  • Activity choices

  • Webquesting

  • Multiple forms of assessment

  • Auto-generated certificate and badge of completion

Webpage Design

I designed, developed, and maintain the Fine Arts Educator Resources page on the Arkansas Department of Education Division of Elementary and Secondary Education website. This site is intended to be a user-friendly and accessible means of providing teachers with useful tools. This site contains:

  • Accessible, drop-down text

  • Branding for DESE and Arts in Arkansas

  • Interactive, embedded map

  • Annotated hyperlinks

  • Contact Information

Module Planning

This detailed planning document demonstrates my skill and experience in designing engaging online content. This module design was submitted to the Arkansas Department of Education's Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as part of my assessment to earn the state's brand new Online Teaching endorsement for certified educators.

The module detailed in this plan is aligned to grades 9-12 Theatre I Standards and is oriented toward teenage students with no prior experience in the subject. Module 1, Theatre from the Audience, is designed to take two weeks of 45-minute class sessions.
